What Does Pre-Loved Mean?

Pre-loved describes an item that has had a previous owner.

It may have been worn regularly, used only once or never worn at all. A new-with-tags dress can still be considered pre-loved if it is being resold by its owner rather than supplied through the brand's ordinary retail chain.

The term is popular because it focuses on the item's continuing story and future use.

What Does Second-Hand Mean?

Second-hand is the broadest and most literal description.

It refers to something previously owned, regardless of its age, brand or condition.

A current-season designer handbag, a high-street dress and a twenty-year-old coat can all be second-hand.

Second-hand does not automatically mean damaged, inexpensive or heavily used. Condition varies from unworn to well-loved.

What Does Vintage Mean?

We prefer to be specific: pre-loved shopping gives existing fashion another opportunity to be worn and enjoyed.

Does Pre-Loved Mean Lower Quality?

No.

Many designer and premium pieces are made using high-quality materials and skilled construction. When cared for properly, they can remain beautiful for years.

The key is to assess the individual item rather than making assumptions based on the fact that it has had a previous owner.
