Consignor Terms & Conditions

About These Terms

These terms apply when a person asks In Style Ascot Ltd to market and sell an item on their behalf.

In Style Ascot acts as a selling agent. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, ownership of an item remains with the consignor until it is sold to a customer.

These website terms provide a general summary. Your individual seller agreement, confirmed commission and agreed item details will also form part of the arrangement.

1. Seller Eligibility and Ownership

By submitting an item, you confirm that:

19.      You are aged 18 or over and legally able to enter into the agreement.

20.      You legally own the item or have the owner's express authority to sell it.

21.      The item is free from finance, security interests and third-party claims.

22.      The item is authentic to the best of your knowledge.

23.      Information you provide about its origin, condition, repairs and alterations is accurate.

24.      Selling the item will not infringe another person's rights or break the law.

We may request identification, proof of address, proof of purchase or other supporting information.

2. Acceptance of Items

All items are accepted at our discretion and may be subject to further inspection.

An initial drop-off or receipt does not guarantee that an item will be listed. We may decline or remove an item if we identify:

25.      Authenticity concerns

26.      Undisclosed damage, repairs or alterations

27.      Incorrect information

28.      Hygiene or safety concerns

29.      Limited resale demand

30.      An item that does not meet our brand, value or condition standards

If an item is declined, you must arrange collection or pay any agreed return costs.

3. Consignment Period

Our standard consignment period is 12 weeks from the date confirmed in your seller agreement.

A different period may be agreed for seasonal, specialist or high-value items.

Items are expected to remain with us for the full agreed term unless we approve an earlier withdrawal.

4. Pricing

We recommend a selling price based on factors including:

31.      Brand and style

32.      Age and condition

33.      Current customer demand

34.      Comparable resale prices

35.      Seasonality

36.      Included packaging and documentation

37.      The most appropriate selling channel

Seller input is welcome, but pricing must remain realistic and commercially suitable.

The initial price and any agreed pricing parameters will be confirmed before listing.

5. Price Reductions

To improve the chance of sale, we may reduce an item's price during the consignment period within the parameters agreed with you.

Reductions may reflect market demand, customer interest, comparable pricing, seasonality or the time the item has remained unsold.

Where a larger or unexpected reduction is recommended, we may contact you for approval.

If you do not wish to permit reductions, this must be agreed before listing and may affect whether we can accept the item.

6. Commission and Charges

Commission varies according to the item's brand, value, likely selling price and individual agreement.

Your commission terms and any expected charges will be confirmed before listing.

Your seller statement will show:

38.      The final selling price

39.      The agreed commission

40.      Authentication or other agreed charges

41.      Any refund, chargeback or adjustment affecting the transaction

42.      The final amount payable to you

7. Authentication

Selected designer items must be professionally authenticated before sale.

The authentication charge is £20 per item. If the item sells, this will normally be deducted from your seller payment.

If an authenticated item remains unsold, the £20 charge must be paid before collection or return.

If an item is confirmed to be counterfeit:

43.      It will not be listed or sold.

44.      The £20 authentication charge will remain payable.

45.      An additional £30 administration and handling fee will apply.

46.      The total payable will be £50 per counterfeit item.

The item will be handled or returned in accordance with our policies and applicable legal obligations.

8. Preparing and Marketing Items

You give In Style Ascot permission to:

47.      Inspect and handle the item

48.      Arrange authentication or specialist assessment

49.      Prepare and present it for sale

50.      Photograph and film it

51.      Display it in our boutique

52.      List it on our website

53.      Offer it through social media, live sales and selected marketplaces

54.      Share necessary item information with buyers and service providers

You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to use photographs and videos of the item for sales and business marketing.

Previously published content may remain in social-media posts, campaign archives or other historical materials after the item is sold or withdrawn.

9. Listing Times

Accepted items may take two weeks or longer to appear online or in-store during busy periods.

We may delay a launch to align with seasonality, a brand feature, live-selling event or category campaign where we believe this will improve the opportunity to sell.

10. Customer Returns, Cancellations and Disputes

A sale is not treated as fully completed until:

55.      The customer's payment has cleared.

56.      Any applicable cancellation or return period has ended.

57.      No return, dispute or chargeback remains open.

If a customer lawfully returns an item, ownership returns to the consignor and the consignment may continue for the remaining term or as otherwise agreed.

If you have already been paid for a transaction that is later reversed, you agree that the amount may be deducted from future payments or repaid to In Style Ascot.

11. Seller Payments

Items sold within a calendar month are normally paid on the 15th of the following month, provided the sale has completed.

If the 15th falls on a weekend or UK bank holiday, payment will be made on the nearest working day.

Payments are made by bank transfer only. You are responsible for providing complete and accurate bank details.

We are not responsible for delays caused by incorrect information or events outside our reasonable control.

12. Early Collection

If you request an item before the end of the agreed consignment period, a £15 processing fee will apply.

This covers locating the item, removing listings, updating stock records and preparing it for collection.

Please provide at least three working days' notice. Items may be stored off-site, displayed elsewhere or allocated to a live-selling event and may not be immediately available.

The fee and any outstanding charges must be paid before release.

13. Unsold Items

At the end of the consignment period, the available options may include:

58.      Collection from our Ascot boutique

59.      Paid return delivery

60.      A further agreed price reduction

61.      A written extension

62.      Donation to charity

It is the seller's responsibility to contact us and arrange collection or return.

Unless otherwise agreed, items must be collected within seven working days of the collection request or end-of-consignment notification.

After reasonable notice, items that remain uncollected may be donated to charity or responsibly disposed of in accordance with the seller agreement.

14. Postal and Courier Items

Items should not be sent before approval.

You are responsible for suitable packaging and for selecting an appropriately tracked and insured service when posting items to us.

Risk remains with the sender until the parcel has been delivered to and accepted by In Style Ascot.

Return postage, courier fees and insurance may be charged where agreed.

15. Care, Loss and Damage

We take reasonable care of items while they are in our possession.

Pre-owned items may already display wear, ageing, deterioration or previous repair. Where In Style Ascot is legally responsible for loss or damage, compensation will be assessed using the item's reasonable resale value immediately before the event, taking account of its age, condition and the agreed seller return.

Compensation will not be based on original retail price, replacement-new value or sentimental value.

Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

16. Ending the Agreement

We may end a consignment and require collection if:

63.      Information provided by the seller is inaccurate.

64.      An authenticity, ownership or legal concern arises.

65.      The seller breaches these terms.

66.      The item is unsuitable or unsafe to continue marketing.

67.      Continuing the arrangement could harm our customers, business or reputation.

Outstanding charges remain payable.

17. Personal Information

We use seller information to administer consignments, make payments, meet legal obligations, prevent fraud and operate our business.

Please read our Privacy Policy for full details.

18. Changes to These Terms

The version accepted when your consignment begins will normally apply to that consignment.

We may update these website terms for future consignments. Material changes affecting an active agreement will be communicated where appropriate.

19. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.
